Terry Hulf has been photographing Romney, Denge, Walland - the Three Marshes for 30 years, revealing "the spots others overlook". The archive of work extends to well over 2000 photographs.
Johanna Cruicksank in her 'Independent Study of Romney Marsh' looked at the works of Paul Nash, John Piper, Fay Godwin and Terry Hulf noting, "of all the artists Hulf is closest to the land… the connection can be seen and felt in his work".
His photographs capture the unique landscape of the marshes, known as The Sixth Continent, revealing an understanding of how it works as a living, working evanescent environment.
Eric Watson praises Hulf's attention to the landscape of the Three Marshes noting a visual simplicity similar to that of Robert Adams.
